Purchased used 11 years ago, this is a very rare full original vintage Fender USA 1975 Jazz Bass. Since these screws are original parts, I have left them as-is, but if desired, they can be removed with a screw extractor. I will confirm this with the successful bidder at the time of the auction. ◆ Body Material: The ash body with a maple one-piece neck began to adopt sunburst finishes around 1974. The grain of this instrument is relatively subdued, revealing a beautiful appearance. Due to the characteristic white ash body of this era, it weighs a hefty 4.67 kg. The black pickguard and the relocated finger rest on the four-string side are features seen from about 1974. Additionally, the neck joint changed from the traditional four-bolt to a three-bolt micro-tilt adjustment joint in 1975, which this instrument also employs. The neck joint shows signs of paint handling with the body date marked "4655". It is rare for many instruments from this era to have a body date, but this one can be determined from the number "4655" to signify 1975 manufacturing. The neck end date is fading and hard to discern, but from the number "02034753", it can be interpreted as "02 (Jazz Bass) 03 (Maple one-piece neck) 47 (week) 5 (75 year) 3 (Wednesday)", confirming it is made in 1975. The headstock features the CBS logo with the patent number, and the tuning pegs are nickel-plated with a register mark. ◆ The pickup features gray bobbins with thick enamel wire. While the date on the pickup is difficult to determine due to adhesive residue, it can be read as "X85075" for the rear pickup. The front pickup is particularly difficult and reads as "XXXX7X". The rear can be determined as having been manufactured by number "X8 (manufacturer number) 50 (week) 75 (year made). ◆ Pot dates are "137754X", "1377533", and "1377536", translating to "137 (CTS) 75 (year) 4X (week)", and "137 (CTS) 75 (year) 33 (week)", and "137 (CTS) 75 (year) 36 (week)". The soldering is also original and can be confirmed as all being from 1975. None of the three controls exhibit scratchiness. ◆ The capacitor is a navy blue ITW (Illinois Tool Works) 0.022μ polypropylene capacitor that started being used on Jazz Basses around 1972. ◆ The pickup fence and the bridge cover are included. The thumb rest is missing. ◆ The neck shows no signs of back bow and remains almost straight with enough tolerance in the truss rod. There is some wear on the frets since purchase but no sound obstruction or buzz has been identified during my minimal play. Should you intend to use it heavily, you may want to consider refretting soon. I did not make any modifications since this is a vintage bass. ◆ Upon listing, I replaced the strings with new Ernie Ball Super Slinky 45-100, polished the frets, and performed maintenance with lemon oil on the fingerboard, allowing for effortless playability. ◆ Serial No.680629. ◆ Original black tolex hard case, known as the "tail logo emblem" since around 1969, features an underlined Fender logo. The interior cushion has been installed since 1973. While some rust is present on the hardware, the handle leather has minimal wear, and there are no issues with the locks, including one key. This hard case from the 70s is in good condition. ◆ Over the last 10 years, this instrument has been stored not in the case but hung in air-conditioned and dehumidified conditions. ● Suggestions: I'm contemplating whether to replace the screws for the pickguard (black), pickup cover (black), bridge, strap pins with new ones I purchased from Fender Pure Vintage Parts (USA) totaling 16,000 yen, which I have set aside.
