S9 headstock serial number, this is the original Natural Stratocaster manufactured in 1978.
Beautifully grained ash body with a one-piece maple neck.
A remarkable piece retaining a clear gloss that showcases its 47 years without showing significant aging.
This guitar is in mint condition with very little discoloration and almost no scratches or dents.
Reluctantly listed for sale due to equipment reorganization.
Stratocasters from the 70s, loved by many artists, feature the trademark large headstock, a bullet nut that allows rod adjustment without removing the neck, and a micro-tilt mechanism for adjusting the neck angle, all showcasing a modern specification distinct from 60s models.
The high-density sound of ash provides a bright ringing and deep, clear low-end tone, known for its powerful output and excellent tonal clarity.
◆ Material
Three original gray bobbin pickups manufactured between the 22nd and 23rd week of '77.
CTS pots manufactured in week 52 of '76.
Neck date 2384 indicates it was made in week 23, 1978 (Thursday) and matches the headstock serial number.
According to the warranty from Yamano Music, this is indeed a 1978 model.
All solder is virgin, and the frets and nut are 100% full original.
This guitar appeals to collectors, including an owner's manual matching the serial number and many original items like hard case, tremolo arm, and bridge cover.
It remains unaltered from its original three-way switch specifications.
◆ Prior to listing, I replaced the strings with new Ernie Ball Super Slinky (009-042), polished the frets, and maintained the fingerboard with lemon oil, so it’s ready for immediate use.
◆ This guitar was in the hands of a single owner for 45 years until it came to me in January 2023.
The previous owner purchased it new directly from Yamano Music in Ginza.
It was custom ordered with a black pickguard and PU cover, hat knobs, and caps for the 3-way switch and tremolo arm cover, replaced with Fender’s original white parts at the time of delivery, perhaps to mimic Richie Blackmore’s specifications from Deep Purple’s third phase.
Of course, all the original black genuine components that match the serial number are also included.
Details relayed to me by the previous owner, who sold me the guitar, confirm these claims.
All accessories will be included as-is.
I hope you consider this opportunity.
◆ Appearance
The body color is natural with minor paint damage from contact at two spots on the lower side due to a guitar stand, but overall it is in beautiful condition.
◆ Operation
All three pickups are working correctly, and there is no scratch in the pot.
◆ Included Accessories
Includes the original hard case, tremolo arm, bridge cover, truss rod adjustment Allen key, body cloth, service manual, Fender original strap, tremolo springs, and warranty.
◆ Shipping will be carefully packed in recycled cardboard with cushioning material and sent nationwide at my expense via courier (EAZY).
