A master of marine art:
- In 1983, Lassen created the image art "Sanctuary" for the United Nations Clean Ocean Campaign, which became a UN commemorative stamp on March 13, 1992, with proceeds supporting various UN activities.
- In 1989, he was selected as the official artist for the Honolulu Marathon.
- In 1990, driven by the wish to give back to the ocean that inspires him, he founded the environmental organization Sea Vision Foundation, cooperating on environmental issues worldwide and donating during incidents like the oil spill off Fukui.
- In 1992, "Sanctuary" was adopted as a UN commemorative stamp.
- In 1996, he produced the official poster for the movie "Flipper," and Honolulu designated March 2 as "Lassen Day" in recognition of his environmental contributions. Other places like San Diego and Nevada also proclaimed "Lassen Day."
- In 1997, he starred and created the poster for the environmental film "I am the Earth," which was recommended by UNICEF and shown at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
