1 / 1

Description

Gibson EH150 amplifier style 4. Perfect for jazz and blues guitarists! This model is well-known for its association with jazz guitarist Charlie Christian, who influenced R&R's Chuck Berry. It pairs well not only with Gibson's hollowbody guitars but also with Fender solid-body guitars. Primarily used for recording, this style 4 is easy to use thanks to the tone controls. It produces rich overtones and integrates beautifully with microphones, making it a great amplifier. Appearance: - The tweed shows wear, including fraying, peeling, scratches, and wood dents. - The rubber feet are hardened, and there is some lifting of the tweed on the bottom. - For safety, some capacitors have been replaced with high-quality components from Mod Electronics. - Please assess other details based on the photos provided. Operation: - Being an old vacuum tube device, it initially produced some popping sounds at startup, but this quickly ceased. - I ran it for an hour prior to listing and played through it without any issues. Usage: - Both the Inst (instrument) and Mic channels work perfectly. - 110-120V specification (requires a step-up transformer for use in Japan), approximately 15W. - The leather part of the handle is worn, but the metal core is intact, so it can be used for transport. However, please take caution. Tubes: - Rectifier: Westinghouse 5U4 - Preamp tubes: Arcturus 6N7×1, RCA 6SQ7×3 - Output tubes: RCA 6L6 metal×2 Transformers: - Both transformers are original. - The power transformer with T40096 stamp is manufactured by Thordarson. Speakers: - Based on the stamp code, it is estimated to have a Jensen-made 12-inch field coil speaker. ------------------------------------------------------------- - Please only bid if you have knowledge and understanding of vintage equipment. - The information above was provided based on visual observation and personal knowledge. Please assess based on the images. - There will be no after-sales service, so this is a completely no-cream, no-return sale. - I will not accept requests for specific shipping carriers or packaging methods. After the auction, I will conduct another functionality check and pack with care. - Users with poor ratings or new accounts will be deleted from the auction. - Only those who can contact me within 24 hours and complete payment within 48 hours after winning the auction may bid.

Collector Commentary

The Gibson EH150 amplifier, produced between 1941 and 1943, is a significant artifact in the history of jazz guitar, closely associated with the legendary Charlie Christian. This model, featuring a rare field coil speaker, is highly sought after for its vintage appeal and the rich tonal qualities that complement both Gibson and Fender guitars. The visible wear, including tweed frays and the aging of components, adds to its character but may influence the value compared to mint-condition examples. As collectors in Japan often prioritize well-preserved, original vintage gear, this amplifier represents a unique opportunity within the niche of retro music collectibles.
