Kyojo Honka Edo Period Iron Black Lacquer Sixteen-Strip Helmet with Rising Sun Crest, Iron Lacquer Armor Set, Armor Stand Included

1 / 1

Description

This is a magnificent armor from the Edo period, featuring an iron black lacquer sixteen-strip kabuto (helmet) and a lacquered iron cuirass armor. First, regarding the kabuto: it is a superb piece made of fine iron layered into sixteen strips, with an exquisite black lacquer finish. The details are noteworthy, including the gold-plated Hachiman crest and the rising sun front decoration, making it a very rare helmet. The cuirass is also an excellent construction out of lacquered iron, with a magnetic quality confirming its iron composition. The skirts are made of black lacquered leather. The faceplates are rusted iron with fine craftsmanship, and the sleeves made of iron and leather are equally impressive. Additionally, the armor set includes iron chain mail and iron shin guards, which are remarkable features. The included armor case and the stand for the armor are also shown in the images. The condition is excellent. As seen in the pictures, although there is natural wear due to age, including deterioration of the fabric, some stains, loose threads, fraying, and damage to the buffalo horn fasteners, there are no major damages. Personally, I believe the condition is very good. The armor case does show some expected aging marks. We ask for your understanding. I have made every effort to capture detailed photos. Please check the images for confirmation of condition and included items. Other fine sword fittings are also available for auction, so please take a look. The shipment will be in two packages: the armor and the armor stand.
