Description

Copyright 2026 ginza-kaigakan All Rights Reserved Yahoo!JAPAN ※ Major clearance sale until February 23. The late master of Western painting, Seiji Togo, depicted a woman (nude) with a hint of melancholy in this rare unique oil painting. I hope the delicate touch characteristic of the master is conveyed through the image. Created in 1937, the piece is meticulously painted with oil colors on canvas. The artist's signature and year of production can be found in the lower right corner. While some fine cracks like crazy cracks can be observed here and there, overall, the condition is good for a piece of that era. The stainless steel frame (with a transparent acrylic sheet) shows slight wear in several places but can certainly be displayed as it is. Comes with a yellow bag and a fabric-lined storage box. The artwork includes a certificate from the "Seiji Togo Certification Committee", which is an official authentication institution. ※ This is, of course, the original artwork by the master and is a unique piece. !※ Highly recommended for those searching for asset-valuable paintings or fans of Seiji Togo. ※ At the GINZA Art Gallery, all exhibited works come with a guarantee. Please bid with confidence.

Collector Commentary

Seiji Togo, a prominent figure in early 20th-century Japanese art, captures a poignant sense of melancholy in this unique 1937 oil painting. Collectors are particularly drawn to Togo's work due to its delicate execution and the rarity of original pieces, as his oeuvre represents a bridge between Western painting techniques and traditional Japanese aesthetics. The piece's condition, with minor aging cracks that are expected for its age, adds character while the included certification further enhances its provenance, solidifying its status in the collector market. Given the current bid of ¥544,546, it positions itself competitively within the Japanese art market, reflecting both the artist's value and the contemporary interest in authentic, historical artworks sourced from Japan.
