1 / 3

Description

The item comes from a collection of toys owned by my parents, who previously ran a toy store. This listing features a nearly unused, 40-year-old toy in its original box. It is the Marusan Wind-up Baby Godzilla series, in perfect working condition and fully complete. Its dimensions are 6 cm x 7 cm x 9 cm. Condition: The box has slight dents and there are some minor stains on the actual item, but it is unused and fully functional. There are only two items available for sale: this Baby Godzilla and another from the same series. This is a clearance sale. Shipping options include Letter Pack 500 or Yu-pack.

Collector Commentary

Marusan's wind-up Baby Godzilla from the late 1970s–early 1980s represents a crucial moment in kaiju toy manufacturing—when Japanese makers were experimenting with articulation and motorized play patterns for small-scale figures. The Marusan mechanical toys from this era are now scarce; original boxes command premiums due to aggressive play-wear typical of the period and high discard rates. A near-mint, factory-sealed example with working mechanism is substantially rarer than loose samples, as the wind-up gears often fail or jam after decades. The domestic Japanese retail provenance (ex-toy shop stock) and minimal handling distinguish this from typical estate finds and support strong collector interest in this obscure sub-line.
