Rare Gibson J-45 1962 Reissue 1997 Vintage Acoustic Guitar - Hard to Obtain

1 / 1

Description

This is a 1997 reissue model of the 1962 Gibson J-45 acoustic guitar. It is quite rare. This rare model was created when Yamano Gakki was the distributor. It is a Japan-exclusive model made from an order by Yamano Gakki to Gibson, making it very difficult to obtain. A similar model from the same era is showcased on the Otori Guitar YouTube channel. It's a revival model that reflects Yamano Gakki’s dedication. It closely reproduces specifications of the time, such as a stamped serial number, a large pickguard, a thicker neck, and a screw-mounted bridge. With 30 years of drying, the sound has matured beautifully. It possesses ample resonance for a semi-vintage instrument. While there are minor scrapes and dents on the body and headstock, the neck is surprisingly free of blemishes and the body has minimal weather checking, making it look remarkably well-preserved for its age. Though I have owned several Gibsons, this particular model emphasizes bass tones strongly, resonating deeply. Thanks to 30 years of aging, it has excellent tonal projection and feels well-played. The saddle has been replaced with an oil-treated bone saddle for adjustment. String height: approximately 2.4mm (may vary slightly with humidity) Neck: nearly straight Truss rod: ample adjustment space Fret remaining: about 70% or more Contents: Original hard case (has slight rust and scratches, lacks interior strap, no keys) There are no cracks or repair marks, but there are some typical weather-checking due to age and minor marks around the sound hole and dings. Please check the photos for details. The 30-year vintage appeal is not found in current models, making it visually stunning. Overall, it has outstanding character. This would be perfect for those who love the vibe of a 30-year-old semi-vintage instrument. Please note that this is a used item; returns will not be accepted. Please be aware of this before purchasing. If you are very particular, please refrain from purchasing. Collector Commentary

The 1997 Japan-exclusive reissue of the 1962 Gibson J-45 is a noteworthy collectible due to its limited production run facilitated by Yamano Gakki, reflecting a distinctive period in Gibson's history where Japanese craftsmanship played a crucial role in its appeal. This model highlights unique specifications, such as the stamped serial number and thicker neck, which have attracted niche players and collectors alike. Despite minor wear, the aging of the wood significantly enhances its tonal qualities, making it resonate with a deeper bass, and elevating its collectibility among enthusiasts seeking authentic semi-vintage guitars from Japan. Given its scarcity, the current bidding price of ¥336,000 aligns with trends for similar vintage models, emphasizing the desirability of well-preserved instruments in this market.
